Third Time’s the Charm: A Beautiful, Last-Minute Wedding at Old Salem Covered Bridge

2.2.25 - Sometimes, love just can’t wait!

Ruth called me on a Friday afternoon with excitement in her voice. She and her beloved, Michelle, had been trying to tie the knot for a while, but life kept getting in the way. This time, she was determined—they wanted to get married as soon as possible.

I reassured her with a smile, “Third time’s the charm!” I told her exactly what they needed:

✔ Apply for a marriage license at the Register of Deeds

✔ Bring two witnesses to sign

✔ Have a brief but meaningful ceremony

Just one hour later, Ruth texted me a photo of their brand-new marriage license with the words, “We’re ready when you are!”

A Sunday Morning to Remember Two days later, on a crisp Sunday morning, we met at the Old Salem Covered Bridge in Winston-Salem—a picture-perfect spot for an intimate wedding. Ruth and Michelle, new to the area, had asked their realtor to be a witness, and my husband stepped in as the second witness (and wedding photographer!).

To make the moment even sweeter, Ruth brought Starbucks coffee for everyone. With warm drinks in hand, we shared a beautiful, heartfelt ceremony, sealing their love at last.

Congratulations, Ruth and Michelle! May your journey together be filled with love, laughter, and joy. ❤️
